There’s the riverside, the old neighborhood Alfama, there’s the city centre, with Barrio Alto (the higher neighborhood), the new parts and then next to the bridge there’s this whole creative, alternative side, called Village Underground. And these are just what I found in Lisbon. A city with many faces.
When I was walking around in Alfama, I wanted to photograph this street, when a door opened and and a young woman walked out. It made an otherwise mediocre photo suddenly interesting. Sometimes photography is pure luck.
Apparently, this is one of the most famous street artists in Lisbon. He calls himself Rat on the Roof. I was amazed by the sounds his guitar made. He’s got his own style and when you hear him play you can’t do much more than listen breathlessly.
